The Clements Law Biannual College Scholarship Essay Contest

Helping prospective and current college students meet the costs associated with higher education

The lawyers of Clements & Clements understand the value of a higher education, and we also understand that obtaining one can be financially challenging for both students and their families. For this reason, we are pleased to offer a $500 scholarship to the winner of our Biannual College Scholarship Essay Contest. Potential applicants can find information regarding the application procedure and this round’s essay topic below.

Who is eligible to apply?

Individuals who are planning on attending college or graduate school at an accredited United States college or university during the fall of 2016 or winter of 2017 are eligible to participate in the college scholarship essay contest. Individuals under 18 should obtain the consent of their parent or legal guardian to participate.

Please note: Past winners are not eligible for any scholarships within a calendar year of winning a previous scholarship.

The essay topic

In order to participate in the contest, applicants must submit a 500-word essay responding to the following question:

Essays will be judged upon the following criteria:

  • Originality
  • The thoughtfulness of the response
  • The applicant’s demonstrated potential for academic success
  • The quality of the writing

The application process

In order to apply, applicants should submit their essay to Clementsscholarship@gmail.com by ___________ in an attachment in Microsoft Word compatible format. In the body of the email, applicants should also include the following information:

  • Their full name
  • Their address
  • If the applicant is under 18, contact information for their parent(s) or legal guardian
  • The school they plan to attend as well as their proposed course of study

Once the application period is closed, we will review the essays and select a winner based upon the criteria set out above. We will notify the winner by email on or around ___________
